To begin with, I want to warn you that in order to remove the ignition switch, you must first remove the steering wheel and remove the steering switches, otherwise it will not work. To do this work, a second pair of hands is not needed, so that all this can be done quietly alone in your garage.

As a rule, the ignition unit is removed for its repair, for example, to replace the contact group of the ignition lock or other problems, because the repair is very simple and there is no need to immediately resort to buying a new one.

The procedure for removing and installing the steering wheel and ignition lock:

1. First, disconnect the wire from the "-" terminal on the battery.

2. Now align the steering wheel with the wheels straight ahead.

3. Further, in order to remove the steering wheel, it is necessary to unscrew the 7 screws that secure the plastic protection (casing). Then you can detach the bottom plastic with your hands, then lower the steering column down and remove the top cover.

4. On the steering wheel on the signal activation button, remove the longitudinal, horizontal trim and unscrew the 2 screws under it, then remove the sound signal button.

5. Now it is necessary not to completely unscrew the nut that secures the steering wheel.

Attention! The steering wheel is mounted on the splines of the shaft with a tight fit. So it will be possible to completely unscrew the nut only after the hub comes off the shaft splines. Otherwise, the handlebars will slide off the splines and cause injury. Be careful! 6. With sharp successive blows with your hand, knock up the steering wheel from the splines of the steering shaft and only then unscrew the nut to the end and remove the steering wheel.

7. Now slightly loosen the bolt that holds the steering column base and slide it towards you.

8. From the sensor, which shows the oil pressure, it is necessary to remove the large block with wires.

9. From the block with contacts on the base, you need to remove two blocks with the sound signal wires and only then remove the block with the steering column switches.

10. From the wiring harness you need to remove the deck with the ignition switch wires.

11. Remove the 4 self-tapping bolts using a drill or chisel and hammer. Then it will be possible to remove the ignition lock from the steering column.

12. After completing the repair of the lock, you need to put it back only after you insert the key into the ignition lock and turn it from the “0” position. This is done in order to lower the protrusion of the anti-theft device.

13. When installing the base of the steering column switches, before tightening the bolt of its fastening, adjust the position of the base on the steering column. To do this, install the lower plastic case and slide the base so that the screw holes in the casing and the base line up. After that, carefully remove the plastic and tighten the base fixing bolt.

14. Now put the steering wheel back in the order of removal, just turn the direction indicator switch ring so that the pin on the steering wheel hub enters the groove of the ring (it returns the direction indicator switch to its original position when exiting the turn).
