Finally, Mercedes-Benz has provided some information on the new GLA compact crossover. Officially, this model will be presented at the beginning of September this year at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
Mercedes-Benz introduces the GLA as the first premium mini crossover SUV. This model will be the first SUV of the company to be fully equipped with 4MATIC all-wheel drive system with variable torque distribution between the axles.
Dimensions Mercedes-Benz GLA
The GLA crossover is somewhat different from the concept car that was unveiled at the Shanghai Auto Show. Namely: the new product is 37 mm longer, 76 mm higher and 166 mm narrower, since its dimensions are 4417x1804x1494 mm. The Mercedes-Benz GLA is built on a common platform with the A-class hatchback, reaching 2699 mm.
The boot volume of this model will be 421 liters with the rear seats up and 836 liters with the back row folded down. It may not be so much, but this model boasts a low loading line and an optional fifth door drive.
The power unit of the Mercedes-Benz GLA crossover
The model will initially be available for sales with two diesel and two gasoline engines. The diesel line will be represented by engines of 2.2 liters with a capacity of 136 and 170 horsepower, and gasoline engines - 1.6 and 2.2 liters each and 156 and 211 horsepower, respectively. The motors will be paired with a seven-speed robotic gearbox with two clutches or a six-speed manual transmission. This car is equipped with the most powerful two-liter gasoline engine and will be able to reach a speed of 100 kilometers per hour in just a few seconds. And if you believe the representatives of the German company Mercedes-Benz, then the maximum speed that the crossover is capable of is 235 kilometers per hour. These results were achieved by improving overall aerodynamics. According to some reports, the drag coefficient is only 0.29.
In addition to everything written above, the GLA will have a considerable number of electronic assistants. So, for example, the model has a descent assist system, and several more modes of operation with the transmission, when working with which it is possible to change the response to pressing the gas pedal and the moments of switching a particular gear. Also, this model has a system of assistance on ascents and descents (the so-called Downhill Speed Regulation), driver fatigue control, emergency braking at speeds up to 200 kilometers per hour, a collision avoidance system and, of course, blind spot control, since it is equipped intelligent parking sensors. The multimedia system is voice controlled, has Internet access, supports various models of smartphones, and can act as a navigator. The functional harvester COMAND Online will provide realistic road maps for navigation and suggest the shortest and most comfortable way.
In the interior of the Mercedes-Benz GLA, you can find round air ducts and a three-spoke steering wheel with twelve buttons, sports seats, upholstery made of genuine leather, AMG body kits and a whole lot of other gadgets, already familiar to us from other models.
Price for the new Mercedes-Benz GLA
The price of this car from Mercedes-Benz will be announced later, but from some sources it is known that the car will cost at least 30,000 euros, and in Ukraine the price is unlikely to be lower than 340,000 hryvnia. Orders for the crossover will be accepted from November, so there is very little time left to wait!
