Volvo has previously announced that it expects the S60 and V60 models to arrive with updated engines. Now this information is reliable, let's look at the characteristics of the updated cars.

As it became known, two updated models V60 and S60 Polestar of the Volvo brand will soon replace their old engines with new ones. This means that the previous six-cylinder unit will be replaced with a new version of a turbocharged or charged engine with a volume of 2 liters. four cylinders taken from the Volvo Drive-E engine series. Although one wants to "wipe away a tear" behind the legendary inline-six, the news of the appearance of an updated version makes you "languish in anticipation."

Volvo has now increased its horsepower from 345 horsepower on an inline-six to 362 horsepower on four cylinders. Torque was reduced as it was 500 Nm in the six-cylinder engine and 470 Nm in the four-cylinder engine. Although, the developers of the updated version of the Volvo engine claim that it is not worse than the previous ones in the V60 and S60 Polestar models, and even more, these engines work faster. Proof of this can be the fact that in 2015 the S60 Polestar accelerated from 0 to 100 km / h in just 4.5 seconds, and the updated one is capable of accelerating to 100 km / h in 4 seconds.

The developers of the new variant of the Volvo car engine claim that it will become even more economical in fuel consumption. As it will be equipped with fewer cylinders and the pair will be fitted with an eight-speed gearbox, replacing the six-speed gearbox in previous Volvo models with a six-cylinder engine. Unfortunately, nothing is known to confirm the fuel economy, as official data from the US EPA are not yet available. Volvo's V60 and S60 Polestar models will also reduce their overall weight by 17 kg. for the engine. Models from tuning agency Polestar come with all-wheel drive, but now the new BorgWarner system will be installed instead of the Haldex system. But as for other changes in the updated Volvo, it is worth noting improved steering, new brake discs, as well as new 20 ″ alloy wheels.

Volvo's V60 and S60 Polestar models are fairly exclusive offers in the US automotive market. At first, just before the production process, it was planned to send 120 Volvo Polestar cars to the USA, but already in 2016, during the production process, this figure increased to 274.

However, the US could have received more Volvo Polestars as the total number of models produced increased from 750 to 1,500. It is also worth noting that the V60 and S60 Polestar models with the updated engines will be sold in 34 other countries around the world.
