Many car enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting the Los Angeles auto show, as a rule, many manufacturers present new generations of famous car models at this show. Limited versions and special configurations can also be presented. The German auto manufacturer decided not to wait for the show and has declassified some of the data on the characteristics of the new generation Mercedes-Benz CLS on the Internet.
The so-called four-door coupe Mercedes-Benz CLS 350d as standard will be equipped with an updated diesel unit with a volume of 2.9 liters. The power of such a diesel engine is 280 hp, and the maximum torque is 600 Nm. More advanced equipment Mercedes-Benz CLS 400d will be equipped with the same engine, but with 340 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque. In addition to diesel engines, a gasoline unit with a volume of 3 liters and a capacity of 367 horses will be available to the buyer, with a maximum torque of 500 Nm.
Hybrid Mercedes-AMG CLS 53 2018
Thanks to the integrated starter-generator in the car engine, the torque can be briefly increased to 750 Nm. In addition to the usual complete sets of new items, the buyer will be offered a charged Mercede-AMG CLS 53. Engineers hid a hybrid installation under its hood with a total capacity of 503 horses. The basis for the hybrid installation is a V6 petrol unit with a volume of 3 liters. Regardless of the selected configuration or engine, the new Mercedes-Benz CLS and AMG version will be equipped with an automatic 9-speed gearbox, as well as an all-wheel drive system with an electronic control system. The list of equipment of the new Mercedes-Benz CLS will be no less surprising. The front optics are made on the basis of LEDs and differ quite well from the current generation. The interior of the Mercedes-Benz CLS received background LED lighting, as well as the climate control deflectors. The dashboard, starting from the basic configuration, will be digital and no mechanical instruments. The multimedia system works on the basis of Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, it is based on a 12.3 ″ touchscreen display with the ability to support LTE networks.
The basis for the new Mercedes-Benz CLS are branded 18 ″ alloy wheels, for an additional fee the buyer can choose 19 ″, 20 ″ or 22 ″ wheels. For the safety of the driver and passengers, the engineers of the new Mercedes-Benz have installed an automatic parking system, adaptive cruise control, modern autopilot and a lane departure monitoring system. The new development of the company is the Pre-Safe Sound system, which protects passengers and the driver of the Mercedes-Benz CLS from being stunned in the event of a collision.
The manufacturer will reveal more information about the new Mercedes-Benz CLS at an exhibition in Los Angeles, at the same time the date of the start of sales of the production car will be announced. The starting price of the currently sold Mercedes-Benz CLS in the same body starts at 54,800 euros, the new generation will start at 62,000 euros. Externally, the designers tried to make a minimum of changes, since the body of the previous generation gained considerable popularity.
