Volkswagen will buy out old Volkswagen cars in Russia. The main reasons, details, which models came under the ransom.

A rather unusual situation has developed around the revocable Volkswagen campaign. As a rule, the manufacturer usually recalls a certain group of cars in order to replace certain parts with serviceable ones or fix breakdowns. In the same situation, Volkswagen buys its cars from customers and plans to dispose of them in the future. Previously, a similar situation was at Subaru in North America. Then, the manufacturer disposed of about 300 Ascent crossovers. The main reason was a bad weld on the car body, so this problem cannot be corrected, which directly led to the need to dispose of the sold copies.

Considering Volkswagen's recall campaign, the situation is completely different. Considering the documents of the NHTSA (American National Highway Traffic Safety Administration), they indicate that in 2016, in the summer at the Volkswagen plant, it was discovered that Volkswagen models of cars that were pre-production, from zero batches, were on the mass sale. get on sale.

There are no significant flaws in these Volkswagen cars, the same design, the same lining materials, but some of the copies have non-standard components, not certified parts. Other models cannot be diagnosed at service centers. In short, such models simply have no legal right to exist. All the fault of such models entering the general automobile market is an error in the car accounting system. Thus, it turns out that from the summer of 2016 to May 2018, cars with a similar problem fell into the general sale.

If in the United States a similar campaign for the recall and utilization of Volkswagen cars was launched last year, then it has come to Russia only now. According to Rosstandart, 57 cars (models Caddy, Touareg, Tiguan, Amarok and Multivan) were officially recalled. But this is a superficial list, if you look at the list of VIN codes, then the list also includes Passat, Touran, Golf, the popular Polo, Scirocco and even Sharan, which is not officially sold in Russia and has never been on sale.

Unfortunately, they have not yet specified exactly how much Volkswagen will offer to buyers for cars of "non-standard" assembly. As an example, in America, the owners were offered not only disposal, but also the replacement of certain parts (whole units) with certified ones, that is, those that should be installed, of course, if such a replacement was technically possible. As an example, there were cases when pre-production Volkswagen cars met with non-standard fasteners for body parts, an electronic control unit that was independently updated without the permission of the owner, and other situations.
