Not so long ago, in September 2019, a new generation of the legendary Land Rover Defender was presented at the Frankfurt Auto Show. Now the manufacturer has started talking about the appearance of a charged version of the Land Rover Defender. The new product will be officially shown in 18 months. It is reliably known that the SVO (Special Vehicle Operations) division is engaged in the development of this complete set of an SUV.

The specialists of this division have already built a working prototype based on the new model. Given the brand's model names, the new Defender will be called the Defender SVR, similar to the Range Rover Sport SVR, and will be powered by a 4.4-liter V8 bi-turbo petrol engine from BMW, according to the manufacturer. It should replace the obsolete Ford V8 engine. This replacement step is associated with the closure of Ford's assembly plant in Bridgend (until 2020). It is possible that the new engine from the Bavarians will be installed on the same cars as: Range Rover, Range Rover Sport and the new Jaguar F-Type.

Given the weight and parameters of the new generation of Land Rover Defender, the power of the V8 unit will be reduced to 500 horsepower, while on the BMW X5 M it produces 616 hp. An 8-speed automatic transmission of standard assembly will work in tandem with the engine. They will also install a proprietary all-wheel drive system from Land Rover. To improve handling, the Terrain Response 2 system (driving assistance system), engineers will complete with a special track mode, which will be able to calculate the SUV's clearance and traction force.
